Internships | New York, NY

We're not your average internship experience. At Green Irene, we believe internships should offer an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and shine. Interns won't find gopher work here. Although we expect everyone to put in the necessary efforts to get things done, each person in the office understands how to work the tea maker and scanner - so your help in this area isn't needed! These internships are unpaid and we'll work with you to earn course credit.

Living green is the passion that drives our daily efforts and fuels our creative fire. We are comprised of "out-of-the-box" thinkers who push for a higher standard of excellence, and expect the same from our interns. Interns will be given the opportunity to incorporate original thoughts on assigned projects, while being guided by our experienced staff.

Below are the two main areas that need interns. We can also craft a custom internship that combines research and marketing or gives you exposure to operations. We can craft internships for college credit as well. We want to give you a MEANINGFUL semester with us to help sharpen your interest in pursuing a green career path and help you gain admission to graduate school or get a good first job out of school (maybe even with us)!

Green Researcher and Content Developer

This position, ideal for a college junior, senior, or grad student studying environmental studies, involves researching large quantities of information (books, websites, email newsletters, videos, magazines, etc) relating to helping homeowners green their home and business owners green their small business. You will summarize, edit and repurpose the material into training, online knowledge bases (AskGreenIrene.com), checklists, reports, blog postings, website content and email responses to our Eco-Consultants and their clients. We are in business to support our independent Eco-Consultants, and we go the extra mile to help them succeed in their local consulting practice.

You will have the choice of having a "Home" track or a "Business" track, so you can focus on your area of interest, either helping homeowners live more sustainably or helping businesses operate more sustainably. In any case we will work with you to craft a plan with large enough deliverables so that at the end of your semester with us you can look back and see your accomplishments.

You will report to the Director of Training and Research, and also work directly with the Co-Founder.
