An Eco-Entrepreneur Adds Green Irene
to His Professional Consulting Services
Jeff Horowitz is an eco-conscious entrepreneur with a Master's Degree in International Management and accreditation as a LEED AP professional. He has solid experience in green building practices, sustainability issues, solar energy financing, and voluntary carbon offset markets.
“When I do Green Home Makeovers and Green Office Makeovers,” says Jeff, “I can see that my clients are excited and ready to go green, but they are confused about the changes they need to make. I love helping people take the guesswork out of conserving energy and water, and reducing our collective carbon footprint.”
With significant professional experience in business development, marketing, and entrepreneurship, Jeff juggles his job as a Green Irene Eco-Consultant with several other consulting jobs and volunteer positions, all of which are focused on helping people in the Los Angeles area live healthier, greener, more sustainable lives. Here is a sampling of Jeff's accomplishments:
- LEED AP and active member of the USGBC-LA Emerging Green Builders. Conduct sustainability seminars for organizations and companies.
- Liaison between Los Angeles City Council and the Sierra Club's Green Building Committee.
- Project coordinator of a 12.8-acre sustainable living development in Idyllwild, California.
- Active volunteer at GRID Alternatives (a non-profit solar energy resource for low-income families) and the American Solar Energy Society.
- Solar energy consultant for a commercial development in Mission Viejo, California.
- Consultant/advocate for Solar and Energy Efficiency Financing Programs and Transit-Oriented Development opportunities in urban areas.
- As a Green Irene Eco-Consultant, helps homeowners and small business owners make simple changes to save money, energy, and water.
In the future, Jeff hopes to bring together his green building experience with his Eco-Consultant position by advising homeowners and buyers on all facets of green building for new construction and renovation, including sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and air, materials and resources, indoor air quality, and design innovation.
“I look forward to helping homeowners and small business owners make sensible decisions and choose the best approach so they can see the clear connection between going green and saving green,” Jeff says.
