Green Irene believes that plant-derived enzymes are a better way to clean, eliminate odors and maintain a healthy home. We use task specific enzymes that pinpoint their targets and go to work rapidly biodegrading organic materials into their basic elements. Our cleaners are non-toxic, non-caustic, hypoallergenic and safe for human, animal, and plant life. They are free of harsh fumes and vapors, phosphates, chlorine and contain no petroleum-based ingredients. Enzymes completely remove odors leaving the room smelling fresh without strong fragrances.
Plus, our concentrates and packet refill system means that there is much less packaging waste for the landfill and less water being shipped around the country. Our cleaning solution is safe and sustainable for your family and our planet.
Why use enzymes?
Quite simply, they get the job done. Safely.
Green Irene has tried many "safe, natural cleaners", but has never been thrilled with their job performance. It seems that to really get the job done, we always end up with an arsenal of potent and toxic chemical-based cleaners to back them up. But finally, we found that the right enzymes really do the trick and set out to develop a line that works without chemicals. See our COMPLETE ingredient list for each product. You will be pleasantly surprised when you compare that ingredient list to the label on any chemical cleaner under your sink today!
Why are we so confident that our products work? Not only have they been tested and compared to other natural and traditional cleaners in the lab, they have also been tested in the real world. Professional cleaners have been using enzyme-based cleaning products professionally with residential and commercial customers for years.
We'll help you understand just how our products work and how to best use them, so you can judge for yourself. They're enzymatic!
What are enzymes and how do they work?
Enzymes are large protein molecules found in all living things. They are nature’s workers, speeding chemical processes or creating chemical reactions. As catalysts, they speed up natural processes and create natural reactions that otherwise would not materialize. Enzymes work by rapidly biodegrading materials like grease, foods, oils and grime into their basic elements like carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, so they are both effective and safe. Enzymes clean better than toxic and non-toxic detergents, acids and alkalines. Plus, enzymes completely remove (not just mask) odors by breaking down the organic materials that's causing the odor.
The key is finding the right enzymes suited for each task. Green Irene's task specific plant-based blends are hospital grade enzymes purified of bacteria. They pinpoint their targets and go to work! They work exclusively on organic materials (starch, fats, food, grease, oil) and react only with their target. Another advantage is that any remaining enzymes will be re-activated upon contact with water. This characteristic aids in reducing future organic growth while continuously neutralizing lingering odors.
Compared with other ways of controlling chemical reactions, enzymes are more specific, more efficient, and work under milder conditions. Most enzymes function at normal room temperatures with a neutral pH factor, similar to water. By working in neutral conditions, they save energy, provide safer working conditions, and are easier to use. Your only caution is to not subject enzymes to extreme cold or heat, below freezing or above 170 degrees, where they lose their effectiveness.
This makes them safe to use, with no side effects, and no need to for lengthy warning labels. Choosing enzymes over traditional cleaning agents allows you to do the job precisely and effectively.
More science than you want to know? The key is that enzymes will outperform caustic chemicals and the natural oils found in other cleaners because both natural and chemical cleaners work on the same fundamental principles -- acids break down alkalines, and alkalines break down acids. Toxic chemical-based cleaners work because they're strong acids and strong alklalines, while "natural cleaners" are typically less effective because they're weaker acids or alkalines.
Our Green Irene Enzyme Cleaners are completely different. You can trust them to be effective, yet safe for your family, your co-workers, your pets and the environment.
Safe for your family and co-workers
How do you protect your family? Experts agree that toxic elements in our environment are largely responsible for the increased occurrence of cancer and serious health issues in our world today. Our enzyme cleaning products are all natural. They're non-toxic, non-caustic, hypoallergenic, and safe for human, animal, and plant life. They contain no petroleum-based ingredients and even use an all natural colorant for our Floor Cleaner. Our cleaners are free of harsh fumes and vapors, phosphates, chlorine and petroleum surfactants. Enzymes are not corrosive and can safely be used on any surface not harmed by water.
Enzymes are very specific in comparison to inorganic catalysts such as acids, alkalines, and petrochemicals found in traditional cleaners. They work exclusively on their target, therefore no unattended side affects and no significant warning labels. Have you read the caution labels on your cleaners lately? Rubber gloves, ventilated work areas, and poison control contact instructions - is that stuff safe?
Safe for the planet
Enzymes come from nature and are present in all biological systems. Enzymes help return organic matter back to basic elements like carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, and they speed up that process. When they finish their job they are readily absorbed back into nature - biodegradable and non-toxic. Likewise, the targets of the enzymatic conversion are non-toxic and are readily broken down to their basic elements. Enzymes are biodegradable and they are fast.
Enzymes are not just part of a sustainable environment, they create one. For an enzyme to work, the material it works on must be present. If no such material is available to the enzyme, the enzyme performs no function. Therefore, the only warning label is keep it out of your eyes and they can be used on nearly any surface not damaged by water. Our products are safe and effective cleaners, though they are not disinfectants.
They are free of harsh fumes and vapors, phosphates, chlorine and petroleum. Look at our short ingredient lists! And of course, they are not tested on animals. We manufacture all the components in the USA, including the enzymes and the bottle. Even the labels are printed with soy-based inks.
Sustainable
Our concentrate formulas and packet refill system means that our cleaners are part of a more sustainable lifestyle. We have less packaging waste because you reuse the bottles over and over again, simply refilling with the contents of a 1 oz packet and adding water. And the 16 oz bottle of Floor Concentrate is enough for 16 gallons of Floor Cleaner. That's alot of cleaning! In addition to less packaging, we reduce our carbon footprint by shipping less. When you need a refill of our cleaners, we may end up shipping you 5 ozs of concentrate rather than 80 oz of ready to use products. And yet, the packet system means no measuring, no complicated dilution formulas, just pour, fill and mix.
Clean has never been so green.
