“You don't have to go to the extreme to go green.”

Insurance Company Facilities Manager
Helps Others Make Good Green Choices

Jim Armbrust has some simple advice for everyone thinking of going green: Start small.

“You don't have to go to the extreme and install solar panels, implement a geothermal system, or buy a hybrid car to go green,” says Jim. “I love explaining to my clients how they can save a lot of money by making a few changes or using innovative new products that can impact their everyday lives.”

As Facilities Manager for a large insurance company in the Harrisburg area, Jim is in charge of making green choices in the office that help lower the company's energy costs and reduce the company's carbon footprint. As parents of a young child, he and his wife are involved in their community, where they inform other families about better choices they can make for their children and their homes. Jim also started a local chapter of the international networking group, Green Drinks, to create a monthly, happy hour discussion group of all things green.

As a Green Irene Eco-Consultant, Jim does Green Home Makeovers and GO GREEN Workshops, where he provides suggestions on low-cost improvements and effective products that can move his clients toward a greener life. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing/Management from the University of Pittsburgh, Jim is perfectly positioned to grow his Eco-Consulting to a full-time job.

“Green Irene has been a huge part of the success of my Eco-Consulting business,” says Jim. “My goal is to go full-time so I can focus more on having an impact on my community.”
